Do you remember what technology was like thirty years ago?
- 300 baud dial-up modems?
- Commercial computer systems costing hundreds of thousands of $$?
- Hard drives the size of refrigerators?
- LA-30 printer terminal with acoustic coupler?
Wow! Have we come a long way!
The Ohio Education Computer Network turns 30 years old in 2009. Created by the Ohio Legislature in 1979, the OECN provides important fiscal, student, library, networking, instructional, and data analysis services to over 900 school district and other educational entities in Ohio. By sharing solutions to common technology needs, the OECN has a proven cost advantage and a track record of service for Ohio's schools.
Schools have counted on the OECN for thirty years. Stick around -- see what the next thirty years will bring!
